2014 NSA Conference

Today, we received word that we have been selected to host a workshop at this years National Stuttering Association’s Annual Convention in Washington DC! I am so excited to be not only be a part of the NSA’s convention, but to simply be involved; the NSA changes lives and is an incredible community. We’ll see all you NSAers soon! Stay tuned for details!

Here is the workshop description:

Since “thisisstuttering” premiered at last year’s NSA Conference in Scottsdale, Morgan Lott has been sorting out what it means to be completely public with his stutter. It has been a wild journey, to say the least. Come watch the life-changing documentary that follows Morgan’s pivotal summer of speech therapy (30 mins) and participate in a question and answer time. Morgan will share what has happened with the film in the last year, from the Kickstarter campaign to film festivals, and open it up to a conversation about what it means to be uncomfortably open with your stutter.

NSA conference response

On July 4th, thisisstuttering was shown to a group of about 700 people at the National Stuttering Association’s 30th Annual Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. I honestly did not know how the screening would go, being shown to 700 people who recognized, identified, and suffered from the same speech impediment I do. I was absolutely astonished at the immediate response following the conclusion of the film: A ROARING STANDING OVATION. I was emotional, I couldn’t believe my personal story of pain and perseverance and acceptance of my problem was connecting with an entire roomful of people I did not know. I am so thankful for the opportunity to play thisisstuttering to such a fantastic group of friends and participating in conversation after conversation, hearing people’s stories, meeting stutterer after stutterer, I was overwhelmed with this blessing. Thank to ALL to came out to Scottsdale and participated in the screening and Q&A following. This was an experience of a lifetime and I can not be more grateful for the loving, caring, and immensely supportive people of the National Stuttering Association. Can’t wait for next year!
